Hey snow lovers and prospective snow lovers!
We're repeating the success of the snow safety workshop we had in the beginning of the season. I encourage both new and old members, experienced or not to come along. If you are new to snow and winter trips, this workshop will give you a start to the knowledge you need for safe adventures during winter. If you're experienced, tag along, maybe you learn some thing new/ get a refresher or maybe you have some good inputs and tips to share with the group!
We'll be talking about a range of topics important to snow safety, these include:
- How to dress and what to bring on trips.
- How to avoid skiing accidents.
- Weather risks, including whiteouts.
- Hypothermia, avoid, recognise and mitigate.
- Avalanche risks and risks related to snow conditions, i.e. ice and cornices.
Come along to listen, discuss and/or ask questions. If you already know you have specific things you're wondering about, bring up those questions at the spot. Or, you can send them to me on email or facebook in advance and I can make sure I talk about those things on the night.
See you all on tuesday.
