What is intro trip?
Intro trip is our largest trip of the year. It’s a perfect way to introduce yourself to the club, experience the activities on offer and to meet people and have fun!
This year we are planning to host it at Grampians National Park (details to be finalised), where we will have access to world class hikes / climbs and all that the Australian outdoors has to offer.
Intro trip is open to all students keen to explore the outdoors – undergraduate and postgraduate alike.
Places are limited, so be sure to sign up to express your interest!
What is going to happen?
The current plan (which may be subject to changes) is to head to either Mt Stapylton campgrounds or Smiths Mill at Grampians National Park.
Rough plan of events:
Friday 14th: Head up to the campsite at 3pm from clubrooms. Get tents setup and likely earlier night for big next day
Saturday 15th: Choice of activities out of hiking, climbing and social activies in the morning and similarly in the afternoon. Prepare dinner in the evening and have a fun night with new friends!
Sunday 16th: Choice of one activity in the morning and then head out in the early afternoon back to Melbourne.
What activities will be on offer?
Activities TBC.
Intro trip will definitely contain bushwalking and climbing!
We are currently discussing options for additional sports and activities and will update the trip site as soon as we have concrete plans!
• Beginner friendly climbing near Mt Stapylton
• Amazing bushwalking and scrambling directly from campsite to hollow mountain
Costs and logistics
Intro trip cost (TBC).
This price will cover gear rental, the campsite fee, petrol and car maintenance for the drivers.
The account to transfer money to is listed below.
Account Name: MUMC
BSB: 063238

Label the transaction as “Intro Trip - Your name”
What will I need?
Most gear can be hired from the club if you don’t have it yourself, this includes (but is not limited to) sleeping bags, tents and rain jackets. If price is something you’re worried about, then let us put your mind at ease, hiring from the club is really cheap! And there will be many people to share a tent with, to split the costs! Once you’ve signed up, you will be sent a list of the gear that you must bring. Intro trip will not be catered, so make sure to bring your own food! More information will be provided closer to the date.
What if I’ve climbed or bushwalked before?
If you have previous climbing experience, either outdoors or in the gym and aren't crazy about top roping, please contact: . There are plenty of climbs around the Grampians, and very keen climbers in the club who will be doing some sports and trad climbing outside of the top roping set ups.
If you have previous Bushwalking experience, please indicate in the signup form. There will very likely be different levels of bushwalking on offer during the weekend!
Any other questions?
If you have any questions, such as what each activity actually involves, please ask using the comments section below or come speak to Julian, Callum, any of the leaders for this trip, or any of the committee members.
