Requirements: All welcome.

Checking nest boxes for Squirrel Gliders and Sugar Gliders. This is part of the Regent Honeyeater Project to restore box-ironbark habitat in the Lurg Hills near Benalla.

We will depart early Saturday morning and meet up with all the other volunteers in Benalla. We will spend two days walking around finding nestboxes and checking for Sugar Gliders and Squirrel Gliders. This is a good chance to practice navigation and to see native Australian wildlife. There is also a chance we may come across the rare Brush-tailed Phascogale.

We will stay in the Benalla Scout Hall again, mattresses are provided so just bring a sleeping bag and pillow. Or if you prefer, it is possible to camp outside the hall, in which case you would also need a tent and a sleeping mat. There is a communal BBQ on Saturday night down by the lake. You will need to have water and packed lunches for both days as we will be somewhere out in the bush. Also bring food for breakfast and the BBQ, and a few drinks for Saturday night.

Should be back in Melbourne early Sunday evening.

If there are not enough cars, it is also possible to take the train to Benalla, but you would need to leave Friday night.
