Requirements: You should have been on a day walk before, and be fit enough to walk 5,5 hours on a day with your pack.

Hi bushwalkers,

I've been thinking to organise a trip to Wilsons Prom for a while. I still haven't been there and my time in Melbourne is almost over.. So this will be my last trip with mumc as well :( (for now)

So for everybody who hasn't been in the Prom yet, it's one of the most loved and walked national parks in Victoria. It's situated 3 hours drive south east of Melbourne along the coast. So it's most known for its beautiful beaches and lots of Wombats.. (inside information :p ). A must see-before-you-go according to lonely planet! More info about the park at http://parkweb.vic.gov.au/explore/parks/wilsons-promontory-national-park

So the plan is to drive down and camp at Tidal River Campground in the National Park on friday evening. From here we will depart the next day (with our packs + tents + food) to Waterloo Bay Campground, which brings us across the park. The track will start along the lovely beach of Little Oberon Bay, into the park through Telegraph Junction and along the beach again at Waterloo bay. We will camp here and enjoy a nice dinner on the beach. Sunday we should have a beatiful sunrise from here :) Hopefully the weather allows us to dip in the cold blue somewhere as well. We'll take te same way back since many tracks are still closed due to the floods.

The track is easy-moderate, but about 17-18 km per day. Overnight hiking experience is handy, but not necessary if you consider yourself fit enough to walk with a pack for about 5,5 hours on a day. Experience with day walks is a must though.

The costs are fuel + car maintenance + food + $10 for camping/day

Let me know if you have any questions!

Cheers, Rose
