February 2017 Newsletter

Hi OXOs,

Hope you all had an fanstastic summer break and are ready for another year of MUMC adventures! There are already loads of great trips posted on the website.

If you don't see any trips running that interest you, organise one! Speak to the relevant sports officer or the safety officer to find out how.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL
Now available through the website (thanks Taner!) Go to 'My Profile' to renew. After 28th February you will no longer be able to sign up for trips unless you have paid.

Don't forget to come into the clubrooms to pick up your 2017 membership card which entitles you to discounts at outdoor gear stores.

If you are eligible for the valuable member discount (for non students only), this should now be activated. As a reminder valuable members are active committee members and deputies, organisers of club events (such as pie and slide, o-week etc) and members who organise several club trips a year.

CLUB FORUM (This Tuesday 14th Feb)
This is your opportunity to discuss the direction of the club with the committee and other members. Agenda currently includes next steps for Ropes and general club direction, paddling grants and hut maintenance plans, but you can raise anything you like for discussion. If you need further convincing, there will also be PIZZA!

O WEEK VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We're still looking for volunteers to help out at the O week stall on 23rd February. If you're available please contact Caio or Anton.

TRIP EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS
You can now receive an email notice when new trips are posted on the website (no more refreshing the trips page and scanning for new trips to join!). Go to 'My Notifications' to change your settings.

LIBRARY BOOKS
The library is looking a little sparse at the moment..., this is a reminder to riffle through any piles of textbooks at home and return any books or maps that belong to MUMC.

FACEBOOK
Finally, if you still haven't joined the OXO members Facebook page, here's the link. This group is separate from the public Melbourne Uni Mountaineering Club page and is where members discuss trips, post clubroom opening times and other club news and discussions.

Also, if you're nurturing a gear junkie habit, join the MUMC gear group to trade gear with other members. link
