Mountaineering Information Evening

This is an information evening for any club members who are interested in or even just curious about mountaineering and alpinism.  If you have ever wondered what is involved in a mountaineering trip or perhaps WHY people go to these environments - this is the evening for you.

We will discuss:

• What mountaineering means/involves
  
• How one gets involved - training courses
• Skills and gear requirements

This is also a great opportunity for current/experienced mountaineers to meet other climbers and plan some trips.

The past few years mountaineering in MUMC has been incredibly active. There have been 10-15 active mountaineers in the club climbing in New Zealand and internationally. As a mountaineering club we need to do our best to maintain an active pool of climbers and participants. So it would be great to see as many people as possible coming along. I will try and keep the talking brief and focus more on facilitating discussion between members.

Also I will supply HOMEBREW beer (quality not guaranteed). I will try and run the meeting in the cinema/upstairs space.
