Search and Rescue

Sat 25 - Sun 26 Mar 2017

Posted by Ryan J on Fri, 10 Feb 2017
Leaders: Ryan J
Standard: Beginner
Meeting: No meeting

Requirements: Current or prospective BSAR member.

This is not a regular club trip with a leader, rather it is run by Bushwalking Search and Rescue Victoria, assisted by the Victorian Police. Transport to and from Melbourne to the training location is provided.

Existing BSAR members will have already received an email with sign up details.

The cut off date for registration is 17th of March.

BSAR (Bush Search and Rescue) is a group of registered volunteers who assist in search and rescue activities for lost people in the bush. These searches are often at short notice, in adverse weather conditions and in rough and remote terrain; BSAR members are experienced bushwalkers and ski tourers.

BSAR conduct training annually for current and prospective members to practice search techniques and procedures to ensure that actual searches run smoothly.

Non-BSAR members who are experienced bushwalkers and who meet the prerequisites listed here:  http://bsar.org/joining, are welcome to attend. Please speak to Ryan (BSAR convenor) or another BSAR member (committee should be able to point them out) at the Tuesday meetings or email

Dryland training this year will be at Korweinguboora.
