The plan for Saturday is to practice turning on free-heel skis, using the ski lifts at Mt Buller. On Sunday, we'll ski the trails and summit runs on the adjacent Mt Stirling, hopefully with more telemarks and fewer wedge turns than usual. As with all Australian skiing plans, this will change if there isn't enough snow.
This trip will be suitable for your first time on skis. You can get a lesson at the Mt Buller ski resort, which will help you progress much faster. You might need to walk down Mt Stirling in snow shoes while other people ski down, but that's OK. Remember that skiing is expensive, with petrol money, resort fees and lift fees.
We'll drive to Mt Buller early on Saturday morning. (Or camp there Friday night, if people want to sleep in.) We'll camp out on Saturday night, most likely in the snow on Mt Stirling.
You will need your own warm clothing, but you can hire skiing and camping equipment from the club.
