Annual General Meeting

The Melbourne University Mountaineering club will be holding the annual general meeting on Tuesday the 30th of August. The meeting will take place at the clubrooms, 169-171 Berkley St, Melbourne starting at 7.45pm.

All committee positions are up for election, so please come along to vote for your new Committee for 2016-2017. Nominations for election to the new committee are now closed but if you would like to get more involved with the club there will be plenty more opportunities throughout the year, such as through Deputy positions opening soon. 

Committee positions:
President and Vice-President are the external face of the club with the university and set the vision for the year
Treasurer pretty obviously manages the clubs finances
Secretary manages memberships and meeting agendas
Safety Officer (position subject to constitutional approval at the meeting) will be central to fostering and nurturing a safety awareness culture within the club
Sport Officers (Walking sports, Rope sports, Paddling, Conservation, Alpinism, Snow Sports) are responsible for managing that sport with encouraging leaders to be running trips and managing and purchasing gear.
Publications Officer, publishes the Mountaineer and management of social media accounts
General Member is a good position if you’d like to get involved but don’t know what position is for you. General members can help out other members as required and can organise a few of the key annual events such as Pie and Slide, Intro Trip and O week.

There are two constitutional amendments proposed, one to create the role of a safety officer within the committee and the second to ensure one general member role is filled by a club member who has not been on the committee before.

If you are nominated for more than one position, you must hand the Returning Officer a written statement setting out your list of nominated positions in order of preference.

Should you win the ballot for more than one position, you will be deemed elected to your preferred position according to your submitted statement.

If you are unable to attend but would like to vote by proxy please ensure your form of appointment and intention of proxy is given to Daniel (the president) before the start of the meeting.
