Want a fun day out in the bush with friends? Like going on treasure or scavenger hunts? Then rogaining is for you! Rogaining is a fun sport where you get given a map with checkpoints, each worth a different amount of points. Your aim is in groups of 2-4 is to find as many of them and return to the start (Hash House) within the allotted time. This is a great sport for learning navigation techniques and the best thing is you can do as little or as much as you like! The only requirement fitness wise is that you must be comfortable walking for 6 hours straight with a day pack.
We have the meeting 2 Tuesdays before the event because entries close the day after, so the meeting is to organise teams and transport. Any questions please go to the Victorian Rogaining Association Website first (https://vra.rogaine.asn.au/) or send me an email.
Some More Information of the Event Below:
Gently undulating open forest and only 90 mins or so from Melbourne. The Heathcote area is great rogaining country, with some steeper sections on the eastern slopes of the Mt. Ida range. Most competitors will be able to choose a suitably challenging course without visiting the steeper parts. With numerous wineries and a local brewpub in Heathcote, why not make a weekend of it?
Events
We have a 6hr event held on Saturday and Sunday held from 10-4pm. The courses are the same for both events. Volunteer on one day and compete on the other.
Course
This event is set predominantly in the forest in the Heathcote-Graytown National Park (north of Heathcote).
Location:
Heathcote - approximately 125km north of Melbourne, which is approximately 90 mins driving time from the Melbourne CBD.
