If you are interested in kayaking but don't know anything then this is the trip for you.
Summer is a great time to start paddling:
This trip is focused on teaching basic kayaking skills and safety. No previous experience is required, as we will be teaching it on this trip. You will need to do an intro to kayaking session, or demonstrate the equivalent skill level before going on any other kayaking trips with the club. To go on further paddling trips, you will need to have demonstrated a competent Wet Exit & T-rescue - we will be teaching both here, alongside basic paddle strokes, which will then allow you to come on future club paddling trips.
Note that the trip will be either on the Saturday or the Sunday, depending on the weather, and the exact day will be confirmed closer to the time (the current long-term forecast appears to involve some thunderstorms, which we need to avoid).
We intend to be running multiple small group sessions throughout the day, with sessions estimated to last a couple of hours each. Participants will therefore have to meet us at the lake. We will need to organise groups and carpools at the trip meeting, so please indicate if you have a car and can take passengers on the sign-up sheet.
Please note that attendance at the trip meeting is mandatory in order to confirm your spot. If you sign up and subsequently decide you can't make it, please remove yourself from the sign-up list as soon as possible to allow others to take your place.
