Using the new Trinidad tandem kayaks, we’ll be kayaking a beginner-friendly section of the Yarra River.
We will begin at the clubrooms 8:00am, hopefully on the water for 9:30am at Bellbird Picnic Area, Kew. From there, we will paddle up to Fairfield Boathouse (approx. 3kms), have lunch there, then head back to Bellbird and depart back to the clubrooms. Bring thermal layers, as we may get wet. No jeans or cotton!
The trip will most likely be a half day event, so you won’t have to cancel your other plans for the day! The paddling will be easy and relaxing. Completion of an intro to kayaking session or a previous paddling trip with the club is a prerequisite.
There will be a meeting the week of the trip (11/04) which will be a requirement for everyone attending the trip. Here, we’ll run through the trip plan and organise gear hire.
This is an excellent stretch of the river which navigates through beautiful scenery and wildlife, and is the home of Victoria’s largest colony of native grey-headed flying foxes.
The participant limit is initially capped at 2 due to limitations in transporting more kayaks. If we can find another driver with roof racks, we will be able to increase the number of boats and participants so please get in touch if you're a driver and on the waitlist!
