Relentless Canyon
Grade: V3a2I
(Please note: This trip is weather dependent)
Relentless Canyon is a short, one-way waterfall-wonder in the Otways (Wye River) with a quick walk in and out. This is perfect as an introduction for those wanting a short taste of canyoning!
Due to participant to leader ratios (1 leader to 2 participants), we will break the day into 4x2.5 hour sessions in groups of 4.
The canyon will consist of 2 abseils, 1x15 metre and 1x20m abseil over Wye River Falls and will consist of a 30 minute approach to the canyon, 45 minutes of canyoning and 60 minutes exiting the canyon.
Time slots will be 8:30am-11am, 11am-1:30pm, 1:30pm-4pm and 4pm-6:30pm (subject to change depending on the day).
The rest of the day (or weekend) is up to you to organize. You can plan with your canyoning friends/ car group to hike around the Otway waterfalls. Perhaps you could visit the Split Point lighthouse and enjoy some scones at the Lighthouse Tea Rooms. Possibly you could frolic at Point Addis for the day and try your hand at Surfing. The choice is yours.
Gear will be hired out for $10pp ($5 for wetsuit and $5 for harness). Harnesses will be returned at the end of the session for the next group, wetsuits are to be washed individually and returned to the club the following Tuesday!
PLEASE NOTE: To attend this trip, you will have to be checked off for your canyoning skills. This can be done through theĀ canyon rope skills night.
