Pie and Slide 2024

Submissions Extended Until September 2nd!

Pie and Slide is MUMC's annual photo competition with prizes for a bunch of different categories. On September 3rd 7:00pm at The Ernie Cropley Pavilion, we will be presenting the submissions in a slideshow presentation, eating $5 pies (the yummiest kind) and even drinking $8 beers and ciders if that's your thing (non alcoholic beverages will also be available). An expert panel of highly trained judges will determine the best submissions for each category and the winners will get cool prizes from our club sponsors and some new event sponsors like Hardrock, The North Face, Adventure Entertainment to name but a few…

Categories:

Club Activity: Action photograph of a person/people doing a club activity (e.g. placing protection, skiing, cooking dinner in a snow cave, paddling a waterfall). Photos taken on club trips or featuring club members are preferred.

Faces of the Club: Portraits of Club members, whether it be at the crag, on the trail or at an MUMC social event.

Australian Landscape: Photographs in an obvious club related outdoors setting, where an activity is not necessarily the major feature (e.g. landscapes). Must be in Australia, does not have to be on a club trip.

Overseas Landscape: Photographs in an obvious club related outdoors setting, where an activity is not necessarily the major feature (e.g. landscapes). Must not be in Australia.

Outdoors Nature: Flora and Fauna (overseas or Australian).

Club Personality and Humour: Capture the spirit of the club or one of its members in a single photograph, or a photo of a club member/event which brings a laugh.

Photojournalism: Photographs that tell an interesting story. Here the capturing of the story is more important than the actual quality of the photo. Examples might include the chaos surrounding a rescue, instruction or training.

Photoshop Fantasia: Digitally-altered photos that may imply a story wondrously manipulated to perfection. Usually a goofy creation.

Video: Video of no more than 4 minutes fitting into any of the photographic categories.

(BONUS) Baby Photos: Give us your best and most amazing baby picture of you. These photos won't be assessed by the judges and are purely for fun! 

Submission Rules:

Only 6 photos per person, and max 3 per category.

Only 2 videos per person.

Submissions will open on 1st August and close on September 2nd 2024 at 11:59 pm.

Entries must be from the last 14 months, and may not have been entered in Pie and Slide before.

Judges reserve the right to re-categorise photos.
