Weekend Getaway at the Prom

Hey Everyone,

Wilsons Prom has been an amazing environment on my bucket list ever since I came to Melbourne. I'm super keen to go check it out and spend an amazing weekend hiking around. Due to the closures to the boardwalk, the route is a bit awkward and going to involve some backtracking, but it should be an amazing time anyway!

Friday August 8th 7km, 50m elevation 

We will meet at the Clubrooms at approximately 1 p.m., drive to Telegraph Saddle Car Park, and arrive before sunset. We will be hiking and setting up camp in the dark, so please sign up only if you're comfortable with that. We will hike 7 km to Halfway Hut and camp there.

Saturday August 9th, 15km, 600m elevation 

On Saturday, we would rise early and walk 15 km to Refuge Cove via Waterloo Bay , stopping for lunch somewhere on the way. Once there, we can set up camp and enjoy the scenery and maybe even go for a swim if you're crazy enough. 

Sunday August 10th 20km, 650 elevation 

On Sunday, we would have the hard 20 km slog back to the carpark. Please note that we will be walking in the dark on Friday night, so please only join if you feel comfortable with this. Also, while this is an intermediate trip, please make sure you are capable of walking 20 km with a pack and prepared for rain or shine. Camping costs will be approximately $15, and fuel costs TBA.
