[POSTPONED!] MUMC Memorial Hut Plaque Installation and Maintenance

A long overdue maintenance trip to our Memorial Hut on Mt Feathertop.

We will be installing a plaque for Les Southwell, one of our Honorary Life Members who passed away on Mt Bogong on a "parallel solo" backcountry ski trip in 2017 at age 88 (see the obituary on page 64 of the 2018 Edition of The Mountaineer here).

There will be some of Les' contemporaries joining us to give some greater context to his contribution to the club and have a final send off for him.

The plan is to drive up Friday evening (Emma will be leaving Saturday morning) and then have cars returning on Sunday, possibly some on later days if people are willing to stick around.

At this stage I was thinking of walking there via the Razorback but I'm certainly open to suggestions.

While there we'll be doing some maintenance tasks, planning for future maintenance and just generally enjoying the hut and its surrounds. There will also be plenty of opportunity to walk up to the summit of Mt Feathertop. Read about the hut here: MUMC Hut
