If you want to get into overnight bushwalking this is the trip for you. This hike is aimed at anyone who has done some day hikes and wants to experience a multi-day hike, people who have never camped outside but want to experience it or even people who want to explore the beautiful Grampians National Park. The hike we will be completing is the Grampians Round Trail, taking 3 days to complete the 32km course.

I feel comfortable taking 7 beginners hiking, however if another leader was able to join, this number could easily be increased

No car? No worries! This trip is planned to be done using public transport. This allows for more people to come and is more friendly to the environmental footprint. Plus it allows people to see the picturesque Victorian Country side. The itinerary is as follows:

Day one (29/3):

- Meet at Southern Cross Station for the 8:36am train and travel to Halls Gap via Ararat and Stawell arriving at 12:25pm

- Hike from Halls Gap to Stony Creek Campground (~8km)

- Learn how to pitch tents, cook on a camping stove, weather management etc

Day two (30/3):

- Hike from Stony Creek Campground to Bourough Huts (~11km)

Day three (31/4):

- Hike from Bourough Huts back to Halls Gap (~14km)

- This is the furtherest day, but it is the flattest

- Catch the 3:23pm Coach from Halls Gap and arrive back at Southern Cross at 7:47pm

There is the potential to do this route in reverse so that the short day is the last day. Total elevation is 1,280m so not for the unfit, however if you have a moderate level of fitness i think you will be fine.

I will give everyone who signs up and comes to the Tuesday meeting a comprehensive gear list (also a lot of gear can be hired out from MUMC so don't let a lack of gear stop you from coming!)

Here is the trail link: (except we are not staying at Bugigia campground, instead going to Stony Creek)
