Hey everyone! We would love to get some more bushwalking leaders starting up their training for the new year. If your keen to run some of your own trips and have bushwalking experience come along to our leadership training night to find out about the process :)

Who is this session for?

a) Those with some hiking experience who would like to lead their own trips with MUMC.

b) Prospective leaders on their leadership journey who haven't attended a training yet.

c) Current leaders who want to brush up on their knowledge.

d) Anyone wanting to upskill or to gain an understanding of what goes into being a bushwalking leader.

We will be covering:

  • What a trip leader is
  • Process to becoming trip leader
  • How to plan a great trip
  • Running a pre-trip meeting
  • Duty of care
  • Environmental conservation
  • Navigation and safety
  • Incident and emergency management
  • Trip ideas and planning

...and more!

If you're interested in becoming a leader but don't know if you have the experience required, don't hesitate to reach out! There are many leadership options available and pathways to build the skills required.

If you are feeling confident in your bushwalking leading skills we will have a trip brainstorm session, so please bring trip ideas and we can try to organise a leader to help make it happen. If you are feeling confident but do not have your first aid course, please consider signing up to the course on the 9th of April as this is also a requirement for leaders.

**N.B. This interactive session is a compulsory component of the bushwalking leadership process and generally runs once/semester.

Please contact Eleanor and Ella () for more details.
