Hi everyone, Sydney Uni Bushwalkers has very kindly asked if we would like to join their trip down to Wilsons prom. This should be an exciting chance to meet some new people and hear about cool NSW walks.
Day 1 (Fri) - Sydney people will fly in, and then we will meet them down at Wilsons prom (3h drive). 15km (around 450 elevation) walk into Little Waterloo Bay campground, and set up camp for the night. Depending on our pace, we may be arriving at the campsite in the dark, so you'll need to be prepared for that.
Day 2 (Sat) - For day 2, we will continue our walk along the coastline for 15km (around 750 elevation) down to Roaring Meg campground, checking out South East Point and its lighthouse along the way.
Day 3 (Sun) - We will (optionally) rise nice and early for a ~6km return sunrise walk down to South Point (the most southern point of mainland Australia). Once the early rising and the sleepy factions have regrouped, we will walk the last 17km (about 550 elevation) back to the car via Oberon Bay and head back to Melbourne. We should arrive back before 7pm.
To do this trip you should be comfortable walking with a pack, possibly in the dark, and have done >15km/day overnight walks before.
If you have a car you will be prioritised. More info will be given closer to the date and a meeting time confirmed. Petrol costs will be split between the drivers based on the mumc fuel calculator.
