BSAR general training. Will involve a rogaine and bush searching excercises. Existing BSAR members are encouraged to attend to keep their skills and familiarity with search procedures up to date. This is also open to MUMC members that have been on multiple overnight bushwalks and are self-sufficient in the bush and are interested in joining BSAR.
Talk to me or get someone to point you in the direction of the many BSAR members the club has if you want more information.
Sign-ups are via BSAR and I will update this trip once they are opened.
What is BSAR?
Bush Search and Rescue Victoria is a dedicated volunteer search and rescue group for Victoria which MUMC is part of. Bush Search and Rescue participates in land-based search and rescue activities for persons lost in the bush, in conjunction with and under direction from the Victoria Police Search and Rescue Squad.
Bush Search and Rescue volunteers are often asked to participate in searches at short notice, in adverse weather conditions and in rough and extreme terrain. Bush Search and Rescue has the ability to send out small, self-sufficient search groups that can navigate accurately without landmarks and stay out overnight.
Bushwalkers, ski tourers and other outdoors people, experienced and comfortable in a bush environment, are always needed for this role.
